Russell “Lamar” Harner Sr. 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at home. Born on February 19, 1939 in Plymouth, Indiana he was son of Harrison and Lucille (Price) Harner.
Lamar worked for Fabsteel for 20 years before going to work for the Bremen Foundry. He worked for Bremen Cemetery mowing the lawn before retiring. Lamar was known as a stubborn, bull headed but caring man that loved spoiling his grandchildren when they spent the night with homemade fudge, little Debbie snacks and handing them money. He loved to fish anything that bit his line, especially in Chetek Wisconsin. Lamar loved to camp, work in the garage on cars that his children would mess up.
His children will always remember him as a hardworking, selfless man and the life lessons on how to take care of their own family.
He is survived by his children: Russell (Lu Ann) Harner Jr. of Bourbon; Darla (Michael) Taberski of Bremen; Bryan (Anna) Harner of Goshen; Lawrence (Amy) Harner of Plymouth; Nathaniel Harner of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren. 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lamar is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathleen, siblings: John, Robert, Bill, Evelyn, Viola, Virginia and Phyllis.
A graveside service in the New Oak Hill Cemetery will take place on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Following the service there will be a meal at Lawrence and Amy’s house.
