Russell L. Neidlinger, 81, died at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2005, in Grace Village, Winona Lake, IN., from complications of Alzheimers disease. He had lived in the Plymouth, Bremen and Warsaw areas all of his life.
Born in Plymouth on February 27, 1924, Russell was the son of Fred N. and Dora A. Hissong Neidlinger. He attended Plymouth schools. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Russell and Mary Jane Stough were married in 1952 in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. Mary Jane died on December 23, 1977. On August 30, 1980, Russell and Lucille Brock Kuntz were married in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren.
Russell was a retired dairy farmer. He had also retired, in 1981, from Bremen Products in Linkville, Ind.
He enjoyed traveling and was aboard many tours out of Plymouth. For twelve winters, he and Lucille spent time in Florida; their last stay there was in 1995. He liked bicycle riding, bowling, playing shuffle board and eating out.
He was a former member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren and most recently was a member of the Bremen Church of the Brethren.
Russell is survived by Lucille, his wife, of Winona Lake and by a step-son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Linda Kuntz, of Warsaw, Ind.
Two brothers and four sisters also survive. They are: Orland and Eloise Neidlinger, Atlanta, Ga.; and Dale Neidlinger of Plymouth.
His sisters are Margaret Leeper and Fern and Earl Nifong, all of Argos; LaVanch Yarian, Bremen and Mary Ann Austin, Yearlington, Nev.
Two step-granddaughters, Terri and Jamie Detweiler and Cari and Chris Snyder of Bremen survive together with their children: Collen “Tim” Snyder and Chandler Snyder, also of Bremen and Pvt. Adam Hudson, Ft. Bliss, Texas and Alissa and Makali Detweiler of Bremen.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a step-son, Tim Kuntz, and a step-granddaughter, Lorissa Rigsby.
Friends will be welcomed by Russell’s family to celebrate his life and share memories on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, from Noon to 2 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Russell will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2005. The Rev. Glenn Byers, Chaplain at Grace Village Health Care and the Rev. Bob Weiss, Chaplain of Kosciusko County Hospice, will officiate.
Military graveside services at Oakhill Cemetery will be provided by the Plymouth V.F.W., Post 1162.
Memorial gifts in Russell’s memory may be made to Grace Village Retirement Community or Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice.
