Ruth L. Kennedy, 86, of 14637, died of natural causes at 6:06 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2004, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Born in Lakeville, Ind., on September 23, 1917, Ruth was the daughter of John and Alma Miller Smith. She attended Lakeville High School.
On June 10, 1937, Ruth and Lewis Kennedy were married by Father Eberlee in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church. Lewis died in December of 1982.
Ruth was a seamstress, working, until she retired from Rochester’s Hart, Schaffner and Marx.
She loved to sew and go fishing in Dixon Lake. She enjoyed traveling, especially on trips to Alaska where her greatest joy was catching salmon.
A member of the Royal Neighbors Club, Ruth was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by a daughter and two sons. Her daughter is Alma Fassel of Juneau, Alaska, and her sons: Hubert and Saundra Kennedy, Warsaw and Byron Kennedy, Plymouth.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters: Ione, Gertrude and Juanita.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral services, officiated by Father William Kummer, pastor of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, January 15, 2004, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
