Ruth Mae Edwards, 71, Plymouth, died peacefully in her daughter’s home on Thursday, February 10, 2005, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on September 4, 1933.in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Milton Rowe.
Ruth moved with her family to Plymouth from Detroit in 1968. Married to her late husband, C. Warren Edwards for 31 years, she was first and foremost a devoted and beloved mother and wife.
She was also a volunteer at the American Red Cross in Plymouth for the past 20 years, twice receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award. She was very passionate about education and dedicated her time during the past two years, working toward the approval of Option K for improvement of the Plymouth Community Schools.
Ruth enjoyed bowling, golfing, attending exercise classes, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Douglas Everidge of Fishers, Indiana, and by three grandchildren: Jacob, Abigail and Allison. A sister, Ann Cowley, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and three brothers and their spouses also survive. Her brothers are: Richard and JoAnne Rowe of Terre Haute, Indiana; Thomas and Emita Samuels Rowe of Denver, Colorado, and Daniel Rowe of Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Warren, in 1995; her son, Todd, in 1992 and her brother, Doug Rowe of Canton, Michigan, in 1990.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2005, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Indiana.
Memorial services, conducted by Pastor Greg Bouck, pastor of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home following visitation.
Memorial gifts in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Indiana University Cancer Center, the American Cancer Society or the Jake Hardee Fund.
