Sister Lorine Huelskamp, P.H.J.C.

Sister Lorine Huelskamp, P.H.J.C., 86, died at 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Born in Breese, Ill., she was the daughter of Herman and Catherine Petermeier Huelskamp.

Her life was a life blessed with service.

Lorine Huelskamp entered the Ancilla Convent on December 8, 1941 and professed her first vows on June 25, 1944

Sister Huelskamp was educated from 1941 to 1950 at Ancilla College. She earned her B.S. in Education, majoring in English/History at Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI. in 1958. She graduated with a Masters degree in Administration & Supervision from Loyola University, Chicago, ILL. in 1971.

Her teaching experience was extensive. She taught at St. Joseph, Mishawaka, IN.: St. Boniface, Edwardsville, ILL.: St. Augustine and St. Henry, Chicago, ILL. and St. John, Belleville, ILL. She served as a principal and teacher at St. Mary’s in Edwardsville, Ill., Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Hammond, IN.: St. Catherine of Siena, Hammond, IN. and St. Vincent, Fort Wayne, IN.

Sister was a Pastoral Minister at St. Catherine’s, Hammond, and St. Vincent’s Home in Quincy, ILL. In 1998 she came to Ancilla Domini Convent and worked in the Business office and since 2004, when she retired, she was in community service.

Sister Huelskamp is survived by her birth sister, Sister David Huelskamp, PHJC. Among her numerous nieces and nephews, she is the aunt of Sr. Julia Huelskamp and Associates Al and Eleanor Fiascone and Dennis and Lorraine Huelskamp and Mary Lou Hansen who lived with the Huelskamp family.

There are also many great as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Sister Huelskamp in death are her parents and eight deceased brothers and sisters. They are: Emma Petranih, Joseph Huelskamp, Rose Rengier, Angie Hall, Al Huelskamp, Sisters Erwin and Lawrence Huelskamp, PHJC and Mary Zimmerly.

A Wake for Sister Lorine Huelskamp will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, from 4:30 to 9:00 in the Ancilla Domini Chapel, Donaldson, IN. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. in the Ancilla Domini Chapel.

The Rev. Father Edward Konnerman will officiate.

Burial will take place in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson, IN.
