Sr. Lucia Constantino, 90, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2005 in the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson, Indiana, where she has resided since October of 1999.
Sister was born in Niles Center, Ill., on October 16, 1914, the daughter of Antonio and Lucia Quida Constantino.
On June 25, 1946, she entered the convent and professed her first vows on June 26, 1948.
Sr. Lucia spent all of her years of ministry in nursing. She began in 1948 -1949 at St. Joseph Hospital, Ashland, Wisconsin. In 1950 she worked in the infirmary at Angel Guardian Orphanage, Chicago, Ill. From 1951 – 1965 she was Pediatric Supervisor at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago, IN., and from 1965 – 1967 she was Pediatric Supervisor at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. From 1969 – 1971 she served as a staff nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, IN. From 1981 – 1999, she worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Chicago. Ill., as medical librarian and volunteer in the surgical waiting room. She retired to the Catherine Kasper Home in October, 1999.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, September 19th, in the Catherine Kasper Chapel, Union Road, Donaldson.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20th, in the Catherine Kasper Chapel. The Rev. Father Edward Konerman, S.J. Will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson.
