Sister Jeanette C. Schutte, PHJC, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Sister Jeanette was born February 9, 1924, to Walter and Bertha Hackman Schutte in Quincy, Illinois.
She was a member of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in
Cairo, Illinois.
Sister Jeanette received her Masters Degree in Theology from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame. She worked in Gary, Indiana; St. Boniface and St. Mary’s in Edwardsville, East Chicago and Chicago; St. Mary’s in Carlisle; St. Mary’s in Mount Carmel and the Kitchen Table in Cairo for 17 years, working in education and social work. Sister Jeanette was with the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ for 60 years.
Sister Jeanette is survived by her sister, Marilyn Burgtorf and her nephew, Mark Burgtorf, both of Quincy, Illinois; her sisters in the Poor Handmaids community, many friends and other relatives.
Visitation for Sister Jeanette will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Cairo with a memorial service held at 7:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Chris Mujule and the Poor handmaids of Jesus Christ.
Visitation For Sister Jeanette at the PHJC Ministry Center, Ancilla Domini Chapel, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, Indiana , will be Friday, June 7, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
Funeral liturgy will be at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, in the Ancilla Domini Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson.
