Sister Jerome Hagen, PHJC, of St. Henry Convent, Chicago, Ill., died on Monday, January 12, 2004 in the St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, Illinois. Sister Jerome celebrated her 85th birthday on Sunday, January 11th.
The daughter of Henry and Cecilia Huelsmann Hagen, Sister Jerome was born in Breese, Ill., on January 11, 1919.
She entered the convent on September 27, 1937, and professed her first vows on June 25, 1940.
Sister earned her B.A. in English from Quincy College in Quincy, Ill., and her M.A. from Cardinal Stritch in Milwaukee, Wis.
A teacher and principal from 1940 to 1988, Sister Jerome taught in Indiana and Illinois. She was the local leader of the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson, Ind., from 1988 to 1997.
Surviving her death are two sisters: Monica Saracino of Elmhurst, Ill. and Rosalie Mitchell of St. James, Mo.; two brothers: Robert Hagen of Normandy, MO. And Joe Hagen of Breese, Ill.: and a sister-in-law: Marilyn Hagen of Breese, Ill.
Friends may call at the Catherine Kasper Home to celebrate the life of Sister Jerome on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m.
The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2004. Father Beuter and Father Konerman will officiate.
Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson, Indiana.
