Sister Ruth Schroeder, 92, died at 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 20, 1913 the daughter of John Francis and Emily Ann (Zatler) Schroeder.
Sr. Ruth first professed her vows into the community of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ on June 25, 1931 and her final vows were professed on June 24, 1936 she also celebrated her 70th Jubilee. Sister was an accomplished organist and served in many locations including many years following her retirement to the Catherine Kasper Home.
Sister served as a teacher in the following locations: St. Boniface School – Germantown, Ill., St. Mary’s – East Chicago, Holy Cross – Wendelin, Ill., Angel Guardian Orphanage – Chicago, St. Boniface – Edwardsville, Ill., St. Monica – Mishawaka, St. Henry – Chicago, and St. Joseph – Mishawaka .
She is survived by a sister-in-law; Viola Schroeder of Wheatfield, Indiana and niece Ruth Coogan of Evergreen Park, Ill.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006, in the Catherine Kasper Life Center Chapel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2006 in the Catherine Kasper Life Center Chapel. The Reverend Fr. Edward Konerman, S.J., will officiate.
Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson.
