Sister Theodorita Schotzko, PHJC, 85, a member of the Community of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Donaldson, Ind., died Tuesday evening, June 11, 2002 in Lakeview Hospital, Stillwater, Minnesota. The daughter of Theodore and Barbara Gimpl Schotzko, Sister Theodorita was born in Springfield , Minnesota on November 6, 1916. She entered the convent on June 25, 1934 and professed her first vows on June 25, 1936. Sr. received her basic nursing education at St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She had a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Education from Loyola University, Chicago; a Master’s Degree in Administration of Nursing Education from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.; and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Hospital and Health Care Administration from the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota. Her health care background includes ten years as a nursing supervisor in various hospitals in Chicago, Ill., and LaPorte, Ind.; twenty years as Director of the School of Nursing, Fort Wayne, Ind.; five years as Assistant Administrator and three years as Administrator in hospitals in Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Sister has served as a member of the Boards of Directors of all Ancilla Domini Hospitals, and for six years, she was a member of the Provincial Council at Ancilla Domini Convent, Donaldson. Sister Theodorita was the youngest of eleven children, and has been preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Catherine Kasper Home to celebrate the life of Sister Theodorita on Thursday, June 20, 2002 , from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. , a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2002 at the Catherine Kasper Chapel. Father Edward Konerman, S.J. will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery , Donaldson , Indiana .
