Sumiko Born, 70, 609 Lake Ave., an area resident for most of her life, died as a result of an unexpected illness, at 1:04 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2003, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Sumiko was born on January 11, 1933, in Osaka, Japan. She attended Japanese schools.
On July 18, 1957, in Naha, Okinawa, Sumiko and George A. Born were married. A housewife and mother, she was an avid seamstress and enjoyed making things for her family.
Sumiko is survived by her husband and their two children, their son Kenji Born of Chicago, Ill., and their daughter, Emily Schilling, of Indianapolis, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family services will be held.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
