November 3, 1946 — July 23, 2023

Tommie L. Lemke, 76, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, Indiana.

Tommie was born on Nov. 3, 1946, in Abingdon, Virginia, to Fred and Juanita (Sexton) Sprinkle.

She was a 1946 graduate of Riverside Polytechnic High School in Riverside, California. On Nov. 27, 1964, she married Robert J. Lemke at March Air Force Base in Riverside County, California.

Tommie was always a fashionista, with a talent for putting together outfits for both men and women in a retail clothing career she thoroughly enjoyed for many years. She had a strong faith in God. Tommie was full of laughter, charming people with her infectious giggle and smile. Tommie loved spending time with her family. She loved the beach and taking long desert drives. She loved all music, but was particularly fond of Elvis and Dick Dale. She also loved cats! She enjoyed crafting and knitting, and came to especially love playing bingo at Wynnfield Crossing Assisted Living Center these past three months.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah (Barry) Woodward of Plymouth, Indiana; sisters: Barbara (Jack) Smelser of Phoenix, Arizona; Peggy (John) Middleton of Springfield, Missouri; and Mary Elliott of Sebring, Florida; grandchildren: Jonathan (Lane) Woodward of Dyer, Indiana; Logan (Stephanie) Woodward of Ft. Collins, Colorado; great-grandchildren: Kolbi Kay Woodward, Kane Joseph Gleeson and Blake Harper Gleeson and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert, who died in December 2018.

A graveside service will take place at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
