Viola A. Reese

Viola A. “Doddy” Reese, 76, a resident of 17618 10B Road for the past 51 years, died at 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2005 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. Doddy had lived in Marshall County since her youth.

Born on July 30, 1929, in South Bend, Doddy was the daughter of Lawrence and Mildred Arvilla Richardson Kuskye, Sr. She attended West High School.

On July 25, 1947, Doddy and Richard K. Reese were married in the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church.

Doddy worked at Bomarko in Plymouth for over ten years. A homemaker, she also operated The Old Barn Shop – Antiques for 20 years together with her spouse.

She enjoyed going to sales and acquiring antiques. Doddy collected Christmas ornaments, enjoyed shopping, looking for antiques, and especially spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church.

Doddy is survived by Richard, her husband of 58 years, and two daughters and two sons. Her children are Nancy S. and Bob Holtzman, Ricki and Joe Garrison and Tony Allen Reese, all of Plymouth, and Richard K. Reese, Jr., of South Bend.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, three brothers: Ralph and Pat Kuskye, Elson “Duke” Kuskye, and Lawrence and Marilyn Kuskye, two sisters: Evelyn J. and Bill Wenino and Scarlett Kuskye, and a sister-in-law: Patricia Kuskye, all of Plymouth. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Doddy was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Matthew Garrison, two brothers: Everett and Richard Kuskye and a sister-in-law, Marlene Kuskye.

Friends will be welcomed to celebrate Doddy’s life on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning after 7:00 a.m., in the Johnson – Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, Bremen, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2005, in the funeral home.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial gifts in Doddy’s name may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Plymouth or to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
