Virginia M. “Ginny” Cartwright, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died of natural causes following an illness, at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2006, in the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson, Indiana. She was 82-years-old.
Ginny was born in Culver, Indiana on October 1, 1924. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Bertha Staton Aman. She attended Culver schools.
On October 6, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, Ginny and Richard Cartwright, Sr. were married. Richard died on May 25, 1988.
A homemaker, Ginny was a very good seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working with ceramics. She was an avid reader and always had a book at hand.
She was a member of the Knox Women of the Moose, Chapter 633.
Ginny is survived by her six children, a daughter and five sons. Her daughter and son-in-law, living in Knox, Ind., are Bonita and Jerry Berndt.
Her sons and daughters-in-law are: Bob Grover, Middlebury, Ind.; Francis R. “Bud” and Rose Cartwright, Converse, Ind.; Richard and Carol Cartwright, Jr., LaPaz, Ind.; Clyde L. and Deb Cartwright and Charles N. and Linda Cartwright, all of Plymouth.
Eighteen grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren together with a sister, Irma Fasnaught of Fremont, Ohio, survive as well.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,two infant sons and an infant daughter. Four brothers, a sister, a great-granddaughter and a daughter-in-law, Irene Grover, have also died before her.
Friends will be welcomed to celebrate Ginny’s life from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and for one hour prior to her funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Paul Nye, on Friday, February 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 401 N. Walnut St., Plymouth, Ind.
The Knox Chapter 633 Women of the Moose will hold a memorial service at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Ginny’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
