William Eugene “Bill” Berry, Sr., 64, formerly of Plymouth and a resident of Harvard, Ill., for the past 15 years, died, following an illness, at his home, 24305 State Line Rd., at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2000.
Bill was born, the son of William and Leontine Bishoff Berry, on May 27, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
On December 31, 1980, in Warsaw, Ind., Bill and Sheila G. Johnson Ritenour were married. For over thirty years, Bill managed H.N.P. in Plymouth and Harvard, Ill.
When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting and collecting guns. An outdoorsman, he was an avid fisherman.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sheila, Harvard, Ill. and by a daughter and two sons: Cher`ie and Don Honeycutt, of Tippecanoe, Indiana and William E. and Sharon Berry, Jr. and Mark Berry, all of Plymouth. A step-son and step-daughter survive as well: Terry and Angie Ritenour, Capron, Ill., and Carrie and Steve Doege, Harvard, Ill.
Several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survive together with five brothers and one sister. The brothers are: Pat, Gordon, Terry, Tim and Mike and his sister, Mary, all of whom live in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Richard Ritenour, a step-son.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Thursday, August 3, 2000, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Pretty Lake United Methodist Church, will officiate at the funeral in the funeral home on Friday, August 4, 2000, at 10 a.m.
Military graveside rites will be provided by the Plymouth VFW, #1162, of which Bill was a member.
Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, Ind.
Memorials in Bill’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
