Wilma M. Ambler

Wilma M. Ambler, 91, formerly a resident of Fairfield Blvd., went home to be with her Lord in her daughter’s home in Plymouth on Wednesday morning at 2:48 a.m. on September 10, 2014.

Born in Plymouth, Indiana on August 29, 1923, Wilma was the daughter of Ivan and Daisy M. (Stuber) Read. She graduated from Plymouth High School.

On November 21, 1942, Wilma married Leo E. “Rodney” Ambler at Ft. McClellan, AL.

Wilma was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren since 1963. There, she served as Deacon, was the pianist for the choir and played in the handbell choir.

She worked at Plymouth Daycare Center for many years until her retirement. She also taught piano lessons from her home for over 60 years, not stopping until these past 5 years. She volunteered at the St. Joseph Health Center in Plymouth, was a member of the Friendly 30 Homemaker Club for over 30 years and was a member of the Marshall County Chorus.

Wilma is survived by her son and three daughters: Arol E. and Marcia Ambler, Utah; Kathleen A. and Ward Horn, Indianapolis, IN; Janet S. and Warren Vannest, Georgia; and Gwen E. and Keith West, Plymouth. Family life was of the utmost importance to Wilma, her 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren were all the more reason to arrange travel plans around family visits. Her siblings are, Lester and Sue Read of Plymouth, James and Barbara Read of Plymouth, and Ellen and Rev. Bruce Snyder of Toledo, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rodney on August 5, 2003, her sisters Treva Nelson and Ruth Flosenzier and brother Ivan Jay Read.

Friends may come to celebrate Wilma’s life from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth and one hour prior to services in the church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. The Pastor Ruth Yoder, pastor of the church and the Pastor Joseph Horn, a grandson of Wilma, will officiate.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
